I came across this news few days ago and was fascinated by it, and was like wow is that something out of terminator?
Apparently a guitarist robot with 78 fingers! That’s something, but then it got me thinking that when one plays instrument at a faster rate, the frequency with which the sound is produced would be nothing like we have heard before. This took me to another time and made me wonder if pied piper indeed played music at a frequency that hypnotized others. I didn’t have to search long that I got to learn that even now there are ways to induce trance and hypnosis through music and binaural beats.
Quoting from above links :
Binaural Beats’ is a term given to a measured change in brain activity when presented with audio stimulus. When a person is presented with a stereo sound with two different tones – the brain produces a response (binaural beat) which is hearing and responding to the difference between the tones, not the actual tones themselves.
Hypnosis is defined as; an artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by a heightened susceptibility to suggestion.
Why are trance states so important? They are important because they are the best way possible to implant a belief into your subconscious. In order to do this you focus your mind completely on your desired belief or thought. The trance is achieved when you are able to focus your mind completely on this thought or belief to the exclusion of everything else. Another way to say this is that any thought or belief that you are able to maintain in your mind while in a state of complete mental silence, becomes a command to your subconscious. In this way you are able to consciously program yourself by correctly affecting your subconscious beliefs and actions.
There are two major ways to achieve trance. The first that we have mentioned is the one taken by the hypnotist; this is achieved by getting yourself into a very relaxed, almost sleep like state, where through complete body relaxation you are able to focus your conscious mind on a single goal. The other method which I briefly mentioned is through excitation; this trance state is achieved by getting yourself in an incredibly excited state. A trance state achieved through excitation can be achieved through great physical stress for example. Native people of the world can be seen attaining these types of trances through drumming, dancing, and wild agitation.
In a nutshell ….. When the tones in the left and right channels when using headphones are heard – your brainwave activity changes. Your brain wave activity mimics the difference in the tones and you become relaxed. If the Binaural Beats are at the same frequency of a hypnotic trance state, you are taken into this state.
Most of the people today listen to music through headphone/earphones. It is possible that binaural beats become mainstream music in near future. And the one producing the music can introduce his suggestions as part of listener’s beliefs!!
Pied piper– Folk Tale or Sci-Fi Or Reality!!
You decide 🙂
What inspired me to look into this was that I had heard as a kid ( don’t know the authenticity of this) that when Dajjal comes, he’s gonna play music and people will follow him like the children followed pied piper. Reading all above actually makes sense, and it doesn’t seem like an old lady’s tale anymore!
The children did disappear in real in 1200s. The reason for their disappearance is still a mystery and academics have different opinions regarding as to what actually happened.
How Binaural beats work On The Brain
When signals of two different frequencies (sounds) are presented, one to each ear, the brain detects phase differences between these signals. The brain processes this anomalous information differently when these phase differences are heard with stereo headphones or speakers. A perceptual integration of the two signals in perceived in the brain, producing the sensation of a third “beat”. The difference between the signals waxes and wanes (this is the “wavy” sound heard in the hypnotic sessions) as the two stereo sounds mesh in and out of phase. The binaural beat is perceived as a fluctuating rhythm at the frequency of the difference between the two auditory inputs.
How Binaural Beats creates a Hypnotic Response
Binaural beats can easily be heard at the low frequencies (< 30 Hz) that are characteristic of the EEG spectrum (Oster, 1973). This perceptual phenomenon of binaural beating and the objective measurement of the frequency-following response (Hink, Kodera, Yamada, Kaga, & Suzuki, 1980) suggest conditions which generate brain waves activity and altered states of consciousness (hypnotic trance)
