Halal Meat

اعوذ بالله من الشيطن الرجيم

بِسْم الله الرحمن الرحيم

SubhanAllah! Whenever I read this passage, I think of those people who drink alcohol but are still concerned about their meat being halal. Some Muslims find it strange that one who is consuming haram drink (alcohol) would be concerned about halal meat. But check the placement of the Ayah of completion and perfection of deen out. Allah Subhanahu ta’la placed the great news of being pleased with Islam as our religion in middle of Ayah consuming halal. If somebody is concerned with the meat being halal, they still have Iman. This should be a motivation to increase the halal and give up haram, and not the other way around. We should help each other in taqwa and not in sin and transgressions. If we see someone trying to do good to please Allah, we should help them in that good with encouragements and duas and not sarcastic remarks on how they are doing a good when they indulge in zillion other sins!

May Allah guide us all. Ameen

P.S. By drinking alcohol, I mean those who drink knowing it’s haram; not those who make it halal. Alcohol is haram.

This life is easy….

اعوذ بالله من الشيطن الرجيم

بِسْم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Allah ( the one true God) is telling us in these ayats in Surah Abasa the stages a human being goes through in life, from inception till resurrection. Allah Subhanahu ta’la mentions that the stage between a man’s creation in the womb and his death is easy. Allah Subhanahu ta’la has made the path to come into this world easy i.e. from our mother’s womb to outside world and even while we are alive on this earth even this stage is easy (Allah knows best) It’s important to understand this point. We all have problems, we all suffer from misfortunes from time to time but despite that, Allah Subhanahu ta’la says this path is easy and even following Allah’s commands and His religion is easy. This may seem counter intuitive to some as life is full of trials but Allah Subhanahu ta’la has also told us in Quran in Surah Inshirah, meaning of which is, there is ease with hardship. Problem arises when we concentrate on the difficulty at hand and ignore the ease that’s always there and has always been there and got us this far in life. The ease can be in form of family, friends, knowledge, service, wisdom, insight, peace of mind etc., but biggest ease is providing us with a manual to maneuver all the difficult situations we may face by having a positive attitude suited to the situation and relying on Allah to grant us ease.

God has created us and He has designed this life and the tests that come with it. In his infinite mercy Allah Subhanahu ta’la has not left us alone and on our own. Just like He provides rain and plants and the other things of benefit for our physical self, He has provided us guidance and nourishment for our souls in His revealed books; last of which is Quran and the only one in it’s original form.

It is now up to us if we want to learn more about this path and practice all the virtues mentioned and have firm belief that God’s path indeed is an easy one and Allah helps His people in most amazing ways in impossible of situations so that they are not grieved and feel secure that Allah is taking care of them, Alhamdulillah.

Slaves of Arrahman (the Merciful)

We all are slaves of Allah which basically means nobody owns us except Allah. We don’t even own ourselves. Allah is Arrahman and has given us freedom to choose and given us countless blessings to enjoy in this world.

Everyone of us has a unique and separate connection with Allah. We are all on a journey. It is His mercy that He has given us family, friends and numerous other people to help us on the way. There is blessing in them and there is trial, and both prepare us and help us to get closer to Arrahman.

When we pay attention to the events in our lives and see how Al-Wakeel, Arahman is taking care of us, we are only filled with awe and Love. We don’t own anybody, nobody owns us, so now when we advise someone and they still continue with their ways, we should find comfort in knowing that they are Allah’s slave and are striving to do their best, and have good thought of others and keep making Dua, and know that Allah alone knows their path. We should not compromise our values and Islamic ethics but if we see someone else twisting or shredding them then we should remind them gently and leave his/her case with Allah. There is Khair in everything, all the trials we face. May Allah allow us to always choose Him and allow us to remind each other of good and stop each other from evil with sincere and kind reminders.

Folk Tale or Sci-Fi or….?

I came across this news few days ago and was fascinated by it, and was like wow is that something out of terminator?

https://www.wired.com/2014/04/squarepusher-robot-music/

Apparently a guitarist robot with 78 fingers! That’s something, but then it got me thinking that when one plays instrument at a faster rate, the frequency with which the sound is produced would be nothing like we have heard before. This took me to another time and made me wonder if pied piper indeed played music at a frequency that hypnotized others. I didn’t have to search long that I got to learn that even now there are ways to induce trance and hypnosis through music and binaural beats.

Quoting from above links :

Binaural Beats’ is a term given to a measured change in brain activity when presented with audio stimulus. When a person is presented with a stereo sound with two different tones – the brain produces a response (binaural beat) which is hearing and responding to the difference between the tones, not the actual tones themselves.

Hypnosis is defined as; an artificially induced trance state resembling sleep, characterized by a heightened susceptibility to suggestion.

Why are trance states so important? They are important because they are the best way possible to implant a belief into your subconscious. In order to do this you focus your mind completely on your desired belief or thought. The trance is achieved when you are able to focus your mind completely on this thought or belief to the exclusion of everything else. Another way to say this is that any thought or belief that you are able to maintain in your mind while in a state of complete mental silence, becomes a command to your subconscious. In this way you are able to consciously program yourself by correctly affecting your subconscious beliefs and actions.

There are two major ways to achieve trance. The first that we have mentioned is the one taken by the hypnotist; this is achieved by getting yourself into a very relaxed, almost sleep like state, where through complete body relaxation you are able to focus your conscious mind on a single goal. The other method which I briefly mentioned is through excitation; this trance state is achieved by getting yourself in an incredibly excited state. A trance state achieved through excitation can be achieved through great physical stress for example. Native people of the world can be seen attaining these types of trances through drumming, dancing, and wild agitation.

In a nutshell …..  When the tones in the left and right channels when using headphones are heard – your brainwave activity changes.  Your brain wave activity mimics the difference in the tones and you become relaxed.  If the Binaural Beats are at the same frequency of a hypnotic trance state, you are taken into this state.

Most of the people today listen to music through headphone/earphones. It is possible that binaural beats become mainstream music in near future. And the one producing the music can introduce his suggestions as part of listener’s beliefs!!

Pied piper– Folk Tale or Sci-Fi Or Reality!!

You decide 🙂

What inspired me to look into this was that I had heard as a kid ( don’t know the authenticity of this) that when Dajjal comes, he’s gonna play music and people will follow him like the children followed pied piper. Reading all above actually makes sense, and it doesn’t seem like an old lady’s tale anymore!

The children did disappear in real in 1200s. The reason for their disappearance is still a mystery and academics have different opinions regarding as to what actually happened.

How Binaural beats work On The Brain

When signals of two different frequencies (sounds) are presented, one to each ear, the brain detects phase differences between these signals. The brain processes this anomalous information differently when these phase differences are heard with stereo headphones or speakers. A perceptual integration of the two signals in perceived in the brain, producing the sensation of a third “beat”. The difference between the signals waxes and wanes (this is the “wavy” sound heard in the hypnotic sessions) as the two stereo sounds mesh in and out of phase. The binaural beat is perceived as a fluctuating rhythm at the frequency of the difference between the two auditory inputs.

How Binaural Beats creates a Hypnotic Response

Binaural beats can easily be heard at the low frequencies (< 30 Hz) that are characteristic of the EEG spectrum (Oster, 1973). This perceptual phenomenon of binaural beating and the objective measurement of the frequency-following response (Hink, Kodera, Yamada, Kaga, & Suzuki, 1980) suggest conditions which generate brain waves activity and altered states of consciousness (hypnotic trance) [1]

Food for the Soul, is it really?

Read till the end…

Those who believe and whose hearts are set at rest by the remembrance of Allah; now surely by Allah’s remembrance are the hearts set at rest.[13:28]

I want to highlight another thing that is food for soul/heart. This is not me saying but millions or billions say it and have said it; Music!

Music indeed affects the soul, whether it’s uplifting music or loud music and/or accompanied by filth, all forms of music affect the soul one way or the other. Those who play it and listen to it regularly will testify that music soothes the soul. It affects our mood and our feelings. A little google search would show what people think of it, even a chat with someone who plays an instrument could tell you what music means to his/her soul.

https://www.researchgate.net/post/What_do_you_say_about_Music_is_the_Food_of_the_Soul_how_would_the_music_effect_our_life/amp

But here is the thing from an Islamic perspective, the things that purify and nourish our souls, we have already been told about them in Quran and Sunnah. All the physical worship we do has a direct impact on our soul. The goodness we show to others affects our soul positively. The Quran we read and listen to uplifts our soul, and the zikr we do cleanses our soul. As for the positive and uplifting instrumental music, if it’s recommended by Prophet saw then I have no problem listening to it, but if it’s not then I wouldn’t let something that has not been recommended impact my soul. Whatever affects the soul, affects our understanding and perception of reality and if we pursue things that are not recommended, even if seemingly positive, then we may lose sight of reality and lose our ability to understand the reality of things.

O Allaah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant, my forelock is in Your hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You which You name Yourself with, or revealed in Your Book, or You taught to any of Your creation, or You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quraan the life of my heart and the light of my breast, and a departure for my sorrow and a release for my anxiety.

————————————

We have been commanded to have Taqwa of Allah, and do what’s in our capacity. We shouldn’t actively listen/play/promote the not recommended instruments and should avoid places where there is a loud presence. Any background that someone else has put on is not under our authority, we are only obliged to remind each other in a kind way, following the reminder is up to the individual. We should all remember Allah much at all times and lovingly remind each other of the good and the truth.
